Treat your mother like a queen for Mother’s Day

Posted on 16th February 2023

How do you make your mum feel like a queen? The answer is easy – take her to Slane Castle for a right royal celebration. Choose from a special Afternoon Tea for Mums on Saturday 18th March or  Mother’s Day Lunch on the big day itself, Sunday 19th March. Whichever it is, make sure of your place – they are very limited.

Make a day of it on the Slane Castle Estate and enjoy our splendid wooded grounds. Try the walking trail where the Countess of Mount Charles, grandmother of the current Earl, used to promenade in her finery. Find out more about the family history on a full Guided Castle Tour running at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday (book online). You might even squeeze in a visit to Slane Distillery too. Don’t forget to check out Browne’s Bar in the Castle. It’s full of Slane rock memorabilia and is a great chance for a trip down memory lane.

Afternoon Tea takes place at 2.30pm on Saturday 18th and includes a celebratory glass of bubbly for all the Mothers. It takes place in the Gandon Room which is designed in a warm, inviting club style, ideal for groups of all sizes to enjoy a gracious afternoon tea. Presented on elegant tiered cake stands this delectable combination of savoury and sweet treats is fit indeed for the queen who once graced these hallowed walls with her presence. It is served on vintage crockery, totally appropriate to the historic setting. Afternoon Tea costs €30 per person.

Sittings for Mother’s Day Lunch at the Castle are at 1.30pm and 2pm on Sunday 19th. Of course, the Mums get a glass of fizz to kick things off and then it’s into the Gandon Room for a delicious lunch featuring local organic produce from our own Rock Farm. It literally comes across the river to us. It will begin with a choice of Prawn Cocktail or Caesar Salad and the main course is a family sharing feast, ideal for a celebration. Lunch finishes with a refreshing Lemon Tart. The cost is €45 per adult.

Don’t miss this chance to really spoil your Mum. Book it now!
