Summer @ The Castle

Posted on 18th May 2022

It’s beautiful here at any time of year but once summer kicks in, Slane Castle Estate seems to dress up for the occasion. The magnificent trees are in their full glory with huge canopies of gently rustling leaves casting a welcome shadow on a warm sunny day. The Boyne flows lazily by, fish popping up to feed while sun glints on wings of dragonflies and damsel flies. Nature at its best.

Visitors are welcome to visit the grounds of Slane Castle and enjoy the beautiful setting. The gates are open from Friday to Sunday 10-6pm.

While you’re here, why not try a few of our onsite activities:

Take a Tour
Entertaining guided Castle tours take place at 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. See inside the historic home of the Conyngham family and find out the fascinating (and sometimes gory) details of their story.

Walk the Walk
Our concert-themed walking trail opened last year to celebrate 40 years of rock concerts here at Slane Castle. The trail allows a glimpse into a previously private part of the estate, behind the Castle. More interpretation points will be added as the walking trail is developed. The trail map is available via a QR code provided on payment at the Silver Fox food truck.

Take a Break
Pop into the Castle courtyard for a well deserved break. Enjoy excellent coffee or a delicious treat from the gleaming Silver Fox food truck. It’s funky, fun and seriously satisfying.

Dog Days at Slane
We’re delighted to welcome the All-Ireland Golden Retriever Club who are holding their Breed Open Show on Saturday 18th June here at Slane Castle. It’s going to be a great day with classes, as well as exhibitor stands and a fascinating ringcraft and handling demo by Katie Kelly, who represented Ireland at Crufts as top Junior handler and exhibitors.

Discover the Distillery
Opposite the Castle courtyard is another majestic courtyard which now houses the wonderful Slane Distillery. Slane Distillery Stalls Bar and gift shop are open at weekends and on Bank Holidays.

And don’t forget – your own four-legged friends are always welcome here at Slane Castle Estate once they are well behaved and on a lead.

See you soon!
