Winter Nights Dining Experience at the Castle
Posted on 3rd November 2023
Join us for our ‘Winter Nights’ with a selection of dates in November and December (see events for dates). It’s a rare chance to dine in style at Slane Castle and enjoy a unique Christmas experience in historic surroundings. From the welcome cocktail to a delicious dinner, this is a glorious evening of celebration.
Winter Nights is a very special dining experience conjuring up evocative images of starlit evenings with the Castle silhouetted against the sky. You can almost hear the echo of horse hooves on the courtyard cobblestones and the excited murmur of guests crowding into the hallway as they have for hundreds of years. Kings and queens have graced these halls; now it’s your turn. Snug Browne’s Bar is warm and welcoming, a hidden haven away from the world – and that’s only the start of this very special experience. At Slane Castle a Winter Night is indeed a night to remember.
The evening begins with a Slane Whiskey Cocktail, a delicious concoction and the perfect aperitif served in Browne’s Bar, named after the Castle housekeeper, Mary Browne. There’s nowhere quite like it; the theme is Slane rock concerts and the memorabilia from 40 years of high profile concerts make mesmerising reading. If these walls could talk, they’d tell some stories!
The Winter Nights menu is a celebration of local and organic food, much of it sourced from our own organic Rock Farm keeping food miles to a minimum. It has been designed by chef Yasmina who delights in the quality of produce and creating dishes from it. Boyne Valley Farmhouse Cheese, Rock Farm Organic Dexter Beef and vegetables all make an appearance. You are assured of a sumptuous feast in the classy surroundings of the Gandon Room Restaurant. For non-meat eaters, a vegetarian option is available.
Places for Winter Nights are strictly limited so advance booking is essential. The cost is €75 per head and booking is online. Dietary requirements must be flagged in advance.
