10th Anniversary Opening Night celebrations with The Boyne Music Festival

We are delighted that the Boyne Music Festival has announced its 10th Anniversary Festival on the 27th to the 30th of July 2023 in Drogheda and they are celebrating their opening night at Slane Castle.
They have four days of concerts – starting with their first concert in Slane Castle – workshops, tours and a very special Gala Dinner planned with us to celebrate the occasion. Concerts are taking place this year here at Slane Castle, in St. Peter’s Church of Ireland in Drogheda and in BMF’s home at Townley Hall. There is a full day of family programming on the 29th of July as well as tours and culinary offerings to cater to all your senses.
Pre-concert 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner in the Gandon Room
Prior to the Boyne Music Festival’s opening night concert, the BMF welcomes its guests to a celebratory 10th Anniversary Dinner in the Gandon Room in Slane Castle.
The Gandon Room is inspired by James Gandon, one of the principal architects of Slane Castle. An elegant and dramatic room, it has been transformed into a comfortable and glamorous restaurant with Gandon’s original designs for the Castle on display in the bookcase.

The Opening Night of BMF at Slane Castle
We are delighted that Boyne Music Festival is opening its 10th Anniversary Festival in the glorious ballroom of Slane Castle. There is much to celebrate this year and we couldn’t be more excited to host the first concert in this historic location.
In 1984, the Irish band U2 took up residence at the castle to write and record their album The Unforgettable Fire. Slane is however well known for its open-air rock concerts, performed in its natural amphitheatre with a capacity of 80,000 people. Performers who have headlined Slane concerts since 1981 include The Rolling Stones, U2, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queen, David Bowie, Neil Young, Bryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Robbie Williams, Madonna, and R.E.M. We are delighted for BMF to join this illustrious list of performers with an intimate evening inside the castle exploring the sounds of nature. There will be chamber music for soprano, strings and marimba that makes use of the acoustics in this stunning space and pays homage to the sounds of the rivers, trees and sky that surround us.

10th Anniversary Dinner – further details:
- Please note that booking for this event will be made through Slane Castle’s booking system and is booked separately from the Opening Night Concert.
- The cost of the dinner is €70 per person.
- All tickets purchased are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Dinner will begin at 6 pm sharp to ensure there is no delay to the concert at 8 pm so please arrive a minimum of 10 minutes beforehand.
- All wine and drink purchases on the night are charged separately and must be settled in full prior to departure.
- Once you have purchased your dinner ticket/s online, please contact the Castle on 041-9884477 or via info@slanecastle.ie to reserve your table and advise if you wish to be seated with any other ticket holders. Slane Castle will do their best to accommodate but requests will be limited, subject to table layout.
- Ample parking is available in the Slane Whiskey Distillery car park and overflow car park.
- There are limited services available in Slane village so please make sure all taxis are pre-booked.
- Changes to the cancellations and refunds policy can only be made at the absolute discretion of Slane Castle Ltd.
- Slane Castle accepts no liability for any loss, travel expenses or any other out-of-pocket expenses incurred by a visitor for whatever reason as a result of a dining event cancellation.
