    Stay at Slane Castle

    There are various ways to enjoy Slane Castle as your own private residence. The Conyngham family are delighted to offer The Slane Castle Retreat (Whole Castle Hire) which includes exclusive hire of three storeys of this famous Georgian Castle in the heart of the Boyne Valley, as well as the option to book the Slane Castle Suite (5-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartment).

    The Slane Castle Retreat (Whole Castle Hire)

    This ultra-lux offering is the first time Slane Castle has been offered to the public for accommodation bookings. The Retreat includes exclusive hire of 3 storeys of the Castle with six bedrooms located on both the First and Second Floors, sleeping up to 15 guests, as well as reception rooms (Dining Room, Drawing Room and Main Hall) on the Ground Floor. Guests staying here will have access through the Front Door and will be able to call the main resplendent reception rooms overlooking the River Boyne their own.

    Options including the Ballroom and Morning Room event spaces can be booked as part of an additional event hire booking. We can cater for breakfasts as well as half to full board once the accommodation is booked.

    The Castle also has a 60-seater restaurant (Gandon Room) and 20-seater bar (Browne’s Bar) on the Lower Ground Floor as well as its own Nightclub in the Basement. Please enquire here if you would like to extend your stay to include a personalised event.

    The Slane Castle Suite (5-bed or 3-bed Apartment)

    Experience the grandeur of Slane Castle with an exclusive stay in The Slane Castle Suite – a luxurious private residence offering the flexibility of a 3-bedroom or 5-bedroom configuration. Nestled within Slane Castle’s historic walls, this elegant first-floor suite combines timeless charm with modern comforts, providing an unforgettable escape.

    As per the Availability Calendar choices, you can book either the spacious 5-bedroom apartment, which sleeps up to 12 guests, or opt for a 3-bedroom configuration, accommodating up to 6 guests, subject to a shorter lead time availability. Each room has been thoughtfully designed to ensure an unforgettable stay in a setting rich with history and grandeur.

    Please note: The 3-bedroom and 5-bedroom apartments share the same rooms, except for the Hunting Room and Anglesey Room, which are exclusive to the 5-bedroom apartment.

    Slane Castle Suite
    (5-Bedroom 1st Floor Apartment)

    For groups of 6 and over, or those seeking a unique and luxurious experience, the 5-bedroom apartment offers unparalleled space, elegance, and exclusivity.

    Opulent Sleeping Quarters

    The apartment features five (and a half) beautifully designed bedrooms for up to 13 guests, each offering a blend of historical charm and modern comfort:

      • The King’s Room, where King George IV stayed during his State Visit in 1820, is a large bedroom with a regal four-poster super king bed, and includes an en-suite bathroom with both bath and shower
      • The Earl & Countess’s Room, originally decorated by Countess of Mount Charles, this is another large room with a four-poster king bed and en-suite with bath and shower
      • Annex to E&C Room – this room is adjacent to the Earl & Countess’s Room and can be used as a Dressing Room or be made up with two single beds
      • Lady Henrietta’s Room – this room, which is located right beside Lord Lieuts can be made up as a  super king double or twin (two singles) and has an en-suite bathroom with shower
      • Hunting Room – boasts a heritage look and a four-poster king bed, with an en-suite shower (exclusive to the 5-bedroom apartment)
      • Anglesey Room – is an exceptionally large room with a canopy super king bed, as well as another single bed for an additional guest, with an en-suite bath (exclusive to the 5-bedroom apartment)
    • Lounge in Luxury: Gather in Lord Lieuts (originally The Lord Lieutenant of Ireland’s quarters) beautifully furnished living areas, perfect for relaxation and conversation. The fully equipped kitchen and spacious dining area invite you to create and share memorable meals.

    As part of our seamless dining offerings, guests will be invited to book breakfast, half board, or full board based on a minimum group of 8 guests. Please enquire on booking.

    We are dog-friendly: please be aware that the apartment is situated on the first floor and that the outdoor areas are only accessible via several flights of stairs. We ask that dogs be kept in Lord Lieuts and not in the bedrooms and that dogs are not left unattended indoors or out. We look forward to meeting your pooch!

    Slane Castle Guest Terms & Conditions

    We look forward to welcoming you to Slane Castle. Please take a moment to review the following important information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay.
    • Check-in: From 3:00pm to 4:00pm. Please confirm your arrival time in advance by emailing info@slanecastle.ie.
    • Check-out: Strictly by 11:00am. Kindly leave your bedroom key in the door and grey door key in Lord Lieutenant’s Room upon departure.
    • There is a private entrance for resident’s with 24-hour access .We will provide you with this information prior to your arrival.
    • Resident parking is available at Slane Distillery, a 2–3-minute walk from the Castle Courtyard. Courtyard parking may be available upon request if not in use. Please note reserved parking signage.
    • Twin setup (two single beds) are available in Lady Henrietta’s Room but must be requested at the time of booking.
    We have two camp beds (suitable for children up to 12 years) and two travel cots (suitable for infants) available but these must be added at time of booking.
    • Slane Castle is a private family residence and does not operate as a hotel. There is no in-house phone service, concierge, bar, restaurant, or room service.
    • Guests have access to a fully equipped shared kitchen/lounge/dining area with tea and coffee making facilities, located in the Lord Lieutenant’s Lounge on the first floor.
    • Dining is not typically available at the Castle, however, private dining experiences can be arrange subject to availability and number of guests. Please enquire by emailing info@slanecastle.ie You can find a list of bookable events on our events page. Otherwise, refreshments and dining options are available in Slane Village & you will find a list of options in the ‘guest information’ book in Lord Lieutenant’s Lounge.
    • Public guided tours of the Ground Floor may take place on weekends. These tours do not include access to the first-floor bedrooms. Guests may use all staircases; however, please ensure personal items are removed from the Ground Floor prior to tour times, as this area will be accessible to the public (does not apply to The Slane Castle Retreat (Whole Castle Hire))
    • Pets are not permitted in bedrooms. A deep cleaning fee of €250 will be charged if there is evidence of pets in these areas. Please ensure pets remain in designated area only; Lord Lieutenant’s Lounge.
    • Guests must bring their own European plug adapters for personal electronic devices.
    • Full payment is required at the time of booking and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
    • Slane Castle does not provide daily housekeeping but this can be arranged for an additional fee.
