Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Price
Free Entry

Christmas is a very special time of year at Slane Castle and the traditional start is the Christmas tree lighting ceremony which everyone is invited to. It takes place as twilight falls on Sunday 10th December and is performed by Alex Conyngham, the Earl of Mount Charles in the Courtyard of his ancestral home (approx 5p.m.). Come along and join in the fun.

Enjoy mulled wine, Irish coffees, Baileys hot chocolate, mince pies and sweet treats to kickstart the Christmas season.  Everyone is welcome and entry is free. You could even make a day of it and book Afternoon Tea and a mini Castle Tour earlier in the day at 1pm or 3.30pm. Slane Distillery and the walking trail are open all day. The estate is open from 10.30a.m. to 7.30p.m.

The Courtyard and Castle always look wonderful bedecked in their festive finery with the huge courtyard tree as the highlight. There’s no lovelier sight than the twinkling lights of trees and courtyard with the stately Castle as a dramatic backdrop. Don’t miss it!
