Fitzer’s Catering, Ireland’s premier catering company has won a three‐year contract to provide catering for all events at Slane Castle.

Fitzers Catering will now provide hospitality for weddings and corporate events.

This win follows a fantastic twelve months for Fitzers Catering which was awarded the title of Best Event Catering Company last year and has been nominated for a Deloitte Best Managed Company 2012, reflecting the company’s high standards of quality, service and
innovation. The company was also awarded the catering contract for Titanic Belfast, a magnificent new development on the Belfast waterfront scheduled to open in April 2012.

The company also manages the catering operation at Croke Park and the recently opened Convention Centre, Dublin while regularly catering for events at Dublin Castle and ‘onlocation’ with the film industry.

The company will provide catering for the opulent weddings taking place in Slane Castle,which has played host to many high profile weddings of the years .

“We are delighted to welcome Fitzers Catering on board at Slane Castle. They have over 30 years of experience of top class catering in Ireland which we feel will work well in Slane for the many weddings and different types of events we hold here. Wedding Co-ordinator Rhonda De Paor would like to congratulate all the recently engaged couples in Ireland. It is hard to believe it is that time of year again, but during this festive season more couples will get engaged over Christmas, than any other time of the year. After the engagement couples will begin their planning process for their big day. Of course one of the most important element’s for a wedding is finding the perfect Venue . Here at Slane Castle we offer exclusive use of the entire Castle for your Big day. If you are looking for a private, elegant and impressive venue, you needn’t look much further than Slane Castle. On Sunday January 22nd 2012, we are hosting an open day, by appointment only, for prospective wedding couples to come view the facilities at Slane Castle. The Castle will be set up as it would be for a wedding, and we will have a number of our preferred suppliers in attendance, such as our caterer’s, Florist and photographer.

The Lady Well Fete - Slane Castle August 21st 2011

The Lady Well Fete will be held on August 21st from 12 noon to 6pm in the beautiful grounds of Slane castle. On that weekend visitors will travel from far and wide to visit the holy well in the castle grounds. The day features a variety of fun events and activities for all the family.

This year events include a ’masters’ game of Gaelic football, Irish dancing, music, junior soccer and Gaelic, dog trials, tours of Slane castle, pony and trap rides, a pets corner, side shows, sack races, a variety of fine food stalls, magic shows, street entertainment, a duck derby next to the Boyne, and lots of other activities.

There will be three entry points to the fete:

1) The Pedestrian entrance: At the village end of the land.

2) The car park entrance: At the bridge from the car park.

3) At the castle gates: the performers entrance and car park area.

Helicopters to Open Air Concert Slane Castle (28th May 2011)

Navigational Warning and Local Instructions

An open air concert/event will take place at Slane Castle, County Meath (N534234 W0063342) on the 28th of May 2011. It is anticipated that helicopters and other light aircraft will operate in the vicinity of Slane Castle during this event. A Temporary Restricted Airspace (TRA) will be in place from 09:00-21:00 UTC. The TRA will have a lateral limit of 1NM radius and a vertical limit from ground to 2,500’ AMSL. Flight Operations of any nature within the TRA require prior permission from the Flight Operations Department of the Irish Aviation Authority. State and Military aircraft are exempt from this requirement.
Celtic Helicopters Ltd will provide a Helicopter Air Marshalling Site Service (HAMSS) 
This service is available from 10:00-20:40 UTC on frequency 121.75 MHz – Callsign ‘Slane’. Landing permission and Joining Instructions will be issued by the HAMSS provider. KINGS OF LEON 2011

After much speculation, we now know who will be playing Slane 2011…..


At a press release today Lord Henry was thrilled to confirm Kings of Leon will headline the 2011 Slane Castle concert on Saturday 28th of May, which will also be the year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of outdoor concerts at the Castle. Kings Of Leon’s highly acclaimed fifth album ‘Come Around Sundown’ became their third consecutive album to debut at #1 when it topped the Irish and UK album charts on release. Lord Henry is delighted the Tennessee-based Band who have become one of the biggest bands in the world will be the main act at Slane on such a special occasion.

Alive Outside Event

We are delighted to announce Slane Castle is set to host the “ Alive Outside” Triathlon Event this coming May 29th 2010.
For years Lord Henry Mount Charles has been hosting outdoor concerts , with world renowned acts and now he is delighted to host the first ever Triathlon event held at Slane Castle.


Starting with a 750m swim in the River Boyne, entering and exiting the water from just below the embankment of the castle. Participants will swim 375m up river and turn around with a 375m down river swim before exiting the river. The transition zone will be in the grassy lawns, while the bike route will take you down the castle driveway, out the gates and onto a challenging 23km route (2 loops) on the R163 and N51.


Let’s hope the good weather keeps up and we wish all participants the very best of luck.

Henry Mount Charles to be honored with the Industry Award at the 2010 Meteor Awards

News announced on Friday 22nd of January that Henry Mount Charles is to be honoured with the prestigious Meteor Industry Award, at the 2010 Meteor Awards in Dublin this February.
The award is in acknowledgement of his outstanding contribution to the Irish Music Industry for nearly 30 years. Slane Castle is renowned worldwide for its summer events. Since 1981, Slane has hosted some of Ireland’s largest outdoor concerts featuring the world’s greatest live performers including U2,Rolling Stones, Madonna, Bob Dylan, Red Hot Chili peppers, Robbie Williams and Oasis.


Henry, who is currently in America promoting the Slane Castle Whiskey, was thrilled with the award and said he is very much looking forward to the event.
During this interview on RTE’s 2FM, Henry declined to confirm details about a 2010 Slane Castle concert, but did indicate there is a chance of a “red hot performance”…. So watch this space!
