In times of crisis we look to our leaders to give us guidance. They should display courage and determination and help us avoid disaster. Are you sure that Enda Kenny is up to the job ? Just lately the man who shows such confidence in the abilities of Phil Hogan has been unsettling even some of his own supporters.

Enda Kenny may not realise it, but his government is starting to lose authority and, more fundamentally, the trust of the people. It needs to be said yet again that Fine Gael and Labour did not exactly win the last election.

Remember that ill fated proposal by the Fine Gael Press Office to have their leading lights holding up stars to mark their stellar performance during their first year in office. Well, I am thinking of offering Slane Castle as a venue for a similar event, except with several fundamental differences.

So this is the weekend of blue-fest, otherwise known as the Fine Gael Ard Fheis. Our Taoiseach returns from China, whilst in his absence his Minister for Enforcement, Phil Hogan, has been behaving like a bull in a china shop.
